Everybody loves a picnic or a dance, but for the Armenians of Whitinsville, picnics, dances, and other social activities started as ways to build a new life together in their new country, to reconnect with survivors from their villages/provinces and to forge a new identity as Armenians of Whitinsville. The opening photo to our website celebrates one of these social events – a picnic in the early 1930’s reuniting survivors from Pazmashen and their children, a picnic with plenty of Armenian food, shared stories, and music and dance from the village. In the images and documents below, explore the memories of these joyous occasions for the Armenians of Whitinsville.
