Civic

From the earliest days that the Armenians lived in Whitinsville, civic responsibility and duty to their new homeland was an important part of their contributions to the community. The survivors of the genocide registered to serve in World War I. They volunteered and fought with the French foreign legion toward the end of that war. Their sons and daughters registered and served in World War II. Closer to home, they served on the police force, on the board of selectmen and as teachers to the children of Whitinsville.
